How about one more try? - May 29, 1963
In spring 1962, President John F. Kennedy, British Prime Minister Harold Macmillan, and Nikita Khrushchev of the Soviet Union were wrestling with a formula for a nuclear test ban agreement. Kennedy told a press conference that if an accord were not reached soon, "the genie might be out of the bottle."

Coal Black and de Sebben Dwarfs
1943 Warrner Brothers/Merrie Melodies
Coal Black and de Sebben Dwarfs (working title: So White and de Sebben Dwarfs) is a Merrie Melodies animated cartoon released to theatres on January 16, 1943 by Warner Bros. The film is notable for being an all-black parody of the Brothers Grimm fairy tale Snow White. The film relies on strong stereotypes of African American culture that are considered offensive by todays standards. However, it has been cited as number 21 of The 50 Greatest Cartoons ever made in part for its culturally rich jazz and swing music.

Mushrooming Cloud - April 1, 1965
Communist China exploded its first atomic bomb in October 1964, and the State Department warned in February 1965 that the Chinese, under Mao Zedong, were preparing another nuclear test. Although the Soviet Union insisted that the Chinese tests did not pose a threat, Herb Block's menacing, blossoming caricature of leader Mao Zedong suggests that China's emergence as an unbridled nuclear power was, and continues to be, a world-wide concern.

Make Mine Freedom
1948
A cold war era anti communism piece. The pieces details the Bill of Rights and shamelessly evokes what makes America great. It then outlines the communist threat it uses visuals and sound effects that we would expect to see in a Tom & Jerry Cartoon.

Have a care, sir - March 4, 1954
Throughout his political career, Dwight Eisenhower refused to take a public stand against Senator Joseph McCarthy's aggressive anti-communist campaign. Eisenhower even struck from a 1952 campaign speech in Wisconsin a defense of his mentor, George C. Marshall, a McCarthy target. Half a dozen Republican senators, including Ralph Flanders, joined Margaret Chase Smith in a "declaration of conscience" against McCarthy. Eisenhower, however, continued to speak of "justice and fair play" in fighting communism, and it was a long time before they prevailed.

In Herblock on All Fronts, the cartoonist wrote: "Depreciation in dollars, in products, and in entertainment has also extended to education. Here it is not a case of the fast buck but of the fast bucking-the-kid-along-to-the-next-grade. It produces graduates who can hardly make their way through a phone book or figure the cost of four twenty-five-cent items in a grocery store."
